Events

The IceBreaker is one of the first events in the new year. Players from around the country are invited to join in a Petanque competition and it is extremely popular. The main reason for its popularity is the superb home-made soup provided by Nutbrook members and efficiently run by Sharon, a great cook/chef in her own right.

Throughout the summer, we play a number of in-house competitions. The first one is the Pam and Dave Saunders Shield. This is a melee and pairs will be drawn out of a hat. There’ll be four games of 45 minutes but individuals can opt to play less. This will take place on Tuesday, the 23rd of April 2024, starts at 10 am, registration at 9:45. There is a £2 entry fee.

PAM AND DAVE SAUNDERS SHIELD RESULTS

Many congratulatons to our winners on a cold and blustery day. Phill Allen aptly stormed ahead with 4 wins and a plus of 33 points, Mick Walton followed closely behind also with 4 wins but fewer points.

It was a closely contested melee as several members managed 3 wins despite adverse conditions.

Many thanks to Phill for running the event so successfully. Enjoy the wine!

BIRDS, BACON AND BOULES

This is on Tuesday 30th April, 9.15am for a 9.30am start. Cost £4.50p.

Many thanks to Steve and Sharon for a great day; the walk was very enjoyable and the food delicious. I was delighted to see a couple of grebes, my favourite bird, and a Mandarin duck with his partner, a beautiful couple, along with another 31 different species. With the sun blazing down, birds singing their little hearts out and the sound of people enjoying their time it was a day to remember. Thanks again.
